Retired gymnasts join Kimberley club for first annual show─── CASEY-LEE ANTHONY 09:11 Tue, 03 Dec 2024
Kimberley’s Rhythmia Gymnastics Club hopes to grow its audiences after its first, successful annual show.
More than 80 girls came out to perform and showcase their talents at the Rhythmia show on Sunday (1/12). Some performed solo and others duets.
“We even invited some retired gymnasts to showcase their talents because I think since this gymnastics club was opened … (some) 20 years ago, the city didn’t really see their performances and what they are really about,” said master of ceremonies, Merissa Meyers.

The club has a huge following, she said. “There are so many people interested in the club. And I think not a lot of our kids and the parents know how successful the kids can actually become at this.”
The club takes in all ages, even a three-year-old who performed two routines at the show.
Some 300 attendees made the club’s first official performance in the Kimberley Theatre a success.

“The club is something that everyone should experience. Even if you send your girl for a year or two years, (she’ll) come out spectacular.”
She said the girls have discipline and interact in a special way. “The way that they walk is just something different.”
This was just the beginning for the club in terms of performances as it intends to keep the Kimberley name high and involve the community more in plans.
