Sol Plaatje University will celebrate its 11th birthday this Saturday (31/8) with its annual colour run for the whole family.

The run in Kimberley’s Suzuki Stadium will include various activities for all ages. “Whether you’re participating in the run or cheering from the sidelines, the day promises to be filled with fun activities for everyone, said Director of Institutional Advancement, Kashini Maistry.

“We invite the entire community to join us in transforming the city into a lively, colourful experience as we mark SPU’s decade of excellence.”

Last year, the turnout for the run was over 500 and the university intends to make this year’s event even bigger and hopes to create more connections with the community.

“The SPU Birthday Colour Run exemplifies our unwavering commitment to enhancing community engagement within the region. As a university, we recognise the vital role we play in fostering a strong sense of community and promoting wellness among our students, staff, and the broader Kimberley community.

“This event is not only a celebration of our decade of excellence but also a meaningful opportunity to strengthen our connections with our partners, embodying our dedication to social cohesion and regional development.”

The run includes a 5 km, 10 km, and 21,1 km race starting and ending at the stadium, with cash prizes for each participant that finishes first, second, and third in their respective races.
