Northern Cape High School author publishes third book─── CASEY-LEE ANTHONY 11:33 Tue, 27 Aug 2024
“I want my books to especially reach disadvantaged students in the rural areas because they have limited resources.”
A Northern Cape High School learner from Kuruman has written and published his third book, drawing inspiration from his past experiences.
Mosimanegape Leeuw’s third book, From Darkness to Light, is aimed at readers who’ve gone through a traumatic experience. His own experiences have motivated him “to inspire others to actually get out of their dark spaces and live their lives,” he explained.
“That’s why I started writing these books,” said the 16-year-old, “to remind people that you can start over, that you are human and you can be the person you want to be.”
Pen and paper became his refuge when times were tough, especially after the loss of his mother at a young age. He started writing at the age of twelve. At first. he wrote manuscripts that he would just read to himself, but eventually, he wanted his writing to impact the people around him.
“I want (my books) to be in public libraries and in every province of our country. I want my books to reach the disadvantaged students in the rural areas mostly because they have limited resources.”
Mosimanegape hopes government organisations will buy his books and donate them to public schools, as he believes that education is a weapon that can change the world.
All three of his books, Behind the Dark, Thought in Tears, and From Darkness to Light, can be bought from him as he self-publishes.
