“I’m looking forward to meeting and networking with people in the industry from all over the world and getting to learn from them.”

The deputy head girl of Floors High School in Kimberley has been selected out of more than 600 other females to represent South Africa at the federal president’s Bürgerfest (citizen’s festival) in Germany.

After being selected to participate in the African Girls Can Code boot camp in Gqeberha, Trinita Mohammed was overwhelmed with emotion to learn she was one of the six selected to participate in a programme in Germany.

“After the boot camp, we were given a variety of tasks and assignments to complete and I was one of the few who completed everything,” said Trinita.

“I’ll be attending more than one event during my stay in Berlin, but the main event we were invited to is the president’s festival called the Bürgerfest.”

Mohammed has been studying robotics for the past four years, and intends to study software development after matriculating.

Robotics is the intersection of science, engineering and technology that produces machines, called robots, that replicate or substitute human actions making them ideal for industries like manufacturing. “I think robotics will definitely improve the quality of life in many different ways.”

The adventure is an all-expenses paid trip, which includes her flights, accommodation, meals and transportation.

This opportunity will be her first time abroad and she is excited to see where the world of robotics takes her. “I’m looking forward to meeting and networking with people in the industry from all over the world and getting to learn from them.”
