The forensic team exhumed the body on Friday (19/7). Police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, said a suspect (37) was arrested for murder and their investigations are ongoing.

‘The arrested suspect is the friend of the boyfriend of the deceased’

“Last night, we were led to this grave site and this morning, there was another tip. We then informed the authorities. Ultimately a body was found. It must yet be confirmed but the features link us to Disebo,” said ANCYL spokesperson in the Free State, Sinazo Hafula.

A Facebook post about the alleged suspect.

It’s understood the arrested suspect is a friend of the boyfriend of the deceased. The boyfriend is allegedly on the run.

People have since on social media expressed their disappointment and frustration at the boyfriend of the deceased.

The Free State province has recently been embroiled in scandals of men killing their partners. The provincial government, led by Premier MaQueen Letsoha Mathae, together with church leaders and various organisations, took to the streets to voice their stance against the rife gender-based violence (GBV) in the province.

OFM News previously reported that at least three people go missing in the province each week.

The police are also searching for Moleboheng Thamae (18), who was reported missing by her mother at the Odendaalsrus police station. Thakeng explained that Thamae left her home dressed in her school uniform to attend Seqhobong High School on Monday (15/7) at around 07:20. When she did not return home, her mother tried repeatedly to contact her.

Two men who recently took the spotlight for murdering their partners in Bloemfontein are expected to appear before court next month after abandoning bail.
