The Free State's Masilonyana Municipality has failed to pay workers’ salaries for a third time this year.
The Masilonyana Municipality, based in Theunissen in the Free State, has failed to make timely payments to workers and other staff members in September, October, and November this year. This has largely been attributed to cash flow issues at the municipality.
In the latest communique issued to municipal employees by the municipal manager, this is again blamed for the delay in salary payments.
Workers will now be paid on 8 December. Masilonyana is among many troubled municipalities in the province that have been faced with service delivery issues – including water supply problems.
