Mayor promises better services for Matjhabeng community─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:36 Mon, 19 Jun 2023

The Welkom-based Matjhabeng Local Municipality in the Free State continues with initiatives to deal with service delivery challenges that have left residents frustrated.
Recent violent protests in Ventersburg allegedly followed failed water supply issues in the area.
Welkom residents were also without water for days and the municipality blamed the water supply entity Bloem Water, which is believed to be dealing with challenges of failing infrastructure.

The Mayor of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Thanduxolo Khalipha, confirmed that more than half a billion is needed to deal with prolonged issues of water-shedding.
Last week, Khalipha unveiled newly bought (18 000L) water tankers to support the water department of the municipality to supply water to areas affected by water-shedding.
