It's World Blood Donor Month─── ZENANDE MPAME 09:08 Tue, 13 Jun 2023
Every year on 14 June, the world honours the millions of donors who give their blood freely and without compensation to save the lives of those in need. This day is known as World Blood Donor Day.
June is World Blood Donor Month and throughout this month, blood donors are honoured. Lives would be lost if not for them and their commitment to donate blood.
On Wednesday 14 June, OFM’s Mid-Morning Magic will be broadcasting live from the Klerksdorp blood drive at the donor centre on Archbishop Desmond Tutu Street. OFM previously reported that blood stock levels are critically low because of the weather conditions.

The blood service urgently requests contributions from future and current blood donors as they must collect 3 500 units of blood daily. The scarce blood supply severely impacts patients who depend on life-saving blood transfusions.
On Wednesday, the Kroonstad Donor Centre will be open from 09:00 to 19:00, while the Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom Donor Centres will be open from 09:00 to 18:00. People who are in the Vaal area can donate at the River Square Donor Centre or at the Vaal Gate Donor Centre.
Consider inviting a friend or family member to donate blood with you at one of the South African National Blood Service donor centres in the North West or Vaal on the designated day, if you regularly give blood.
