Strong, cold winds sweep through Bloemfontein─── HEIDRÈ MALGAS 13:45 Thu, 25 May 2023
Residents of Bloemfontein are experiencing sudden strong, cold winds, taking many by surprise.
The unexpected severe weather change has left many scrambling to find warmer clothing.
The South African Weather Service senior weather forecaster, Quintin Jacobs, says a strong cold front is moving from the Western Cape and the Northern Cape, causing a prefrontal jet to cause strong winds over the Free State and Northern Cape.
“These conditions also result in a high fire danger. It is expected to last for the rest of the day and should start quieting down towards the evening,” said Jacobs.
The sudden strong cold winds are taking a toll on residents, especially the homeless, who are struggling to keep warm.
As the cold winds continue to blow through Bloemfontein, the residents must take precautions to keep warm and safe during this cold spell.
