The Free State Provincial Government has notified Heidedal residents in Bloemfontein of street closures for Sunday's special category 2 funeral of the late former premier.
According to Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana's spokesperson, Sello Dithebe, some of the streets leading into and out of Heidedal will be closed from 07:00 to 12:00 to allow for the funeral convoy.
He said the South African Police Service (SAPS) will take control of the procession from the family home of the late premier, Beatrice Marshoff, at Dr. Belcher Road in Heidedal, Bloemfontein, to the venue of the funeral service, and from the venue to the cemetery in Bainsvlei.
Dithebe said the number of people to enter the gravesite will be controlled by the SAPS due to limited space.
Earlier, President Cyril Ramaphosa granted permission to the Free State Province to hold the funeral of Marshoff as an official Category 2 Provincial Funeral.
Marshoff (66) who was the premier of the province between 2004 and 2009, passed on on Saturday 15 April 2023.
"All South African Flags in the province will therefore be flown at half mast from 22 April 2023 until tomorrow 23 April 2023. Books for condolence messages have been placed at the home of the late, former premier at 237 Dr Belcher Road, Heidedal, as well as at the ground floor entrance of the OR Tambo House," Dithebe added.
The funeral of Marshoff will take place on Sunday 23 April 2023 from 08:00 until 12:00 at the Norman Doubell Hall in Heidedal. The procession will from there leave for the Bainsvlei Cemetery.
