A bus driver (55) accused of assaulting a learner (17) from Hanover Farm near Bultfontein has remained in police custody.
Mosuwe Molaba appeared in the Hoopstad Magistrate's Court on Friday and his case was postponed to 10 February 2023 for a formal bail application.
Molaba was arrested earlier this week after a video clip went viral, where he was seen assaulting and strangling a school learner on the bus.
He is facing charges of common assault and attempted murder. According to Free State police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng, the ANC Women's League and most of the school learners were protesting in front of the court in Hoopstad.
