Mbalula lashes out at Mangaung mayor─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:42 Sun, 08 Jan 2023
The Secretary-General of the ANC, Fikile Mbalula, has lashed out at the Mangaung Metro Municipality's Mayor, Mxolisi Siyonzana.
Speaking at the ANC Youth League Peter Mokaba Memorial Lecture in the Free State on Saturday 7 January 2023, Mabalula accused Siyonza of "sleeping on the job".
He further criticised leaders that don't show up to deliver services to people and who are unknown, despite holding key positions. Mbalula said that the leadership of the ANC will be getting rid of MECs, ministers, mayors and other leaders who have not delivered on their mandate.
Meanwhile, the convenor of the ANC in the Free State, Mxolisi Dukwana, says the issue of collapsed municipalities, such as Mangaung and the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, amongst others in the province, is due to people who are put in positions and do not understand their responsibility. He adds that some of the leaders do not have a love for the people to whom they should deliver services.
"People only have their own interests at heart. These are some of the things that we are going to deal with and focus on what we have been mandated to do," said Dukwana.
He added that the Free State ANC would hold their provincial conference before February 2023 as the party looks into delivering its mandate of renewal and unity.
