‘Mangaung intervention team must go’ | News Article

A Mangaung pressure group has once more called for an immediate withdrawal of the intervention team in the metro.

According to the Secretary-General of the Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF), Mpho Mojanaga, the leadership of the group met with the Secretary-General (SG) of the ANC, Fikile Mbalula, and Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Zizi Kodwa, to deliberate on the progress that has been made since the intervention team was instituted at the metro.

Mojanaga said they made it clear that Mangaung leadership — at the governance and administration levels — is a total failure. This, after stating that the situation and conditions in the city and those of people of the metro have gotten from bad to worse.

“The Mangaung Service Delivery Forum wants to cast its disappointment and frustration around the intervention team that was brought to Mangaung to come and turn things around. Nine months down the line nothing has happened. We are calling upon the president of this country to withdraw and immediately take these people back to their places and bring in a new team that will actually assist us in driving service delivery and accelerating the turnaround strategy of Mangaung without any doubt,” he said.

MSDF previously threatened to take the Metro to court for the dissolution of the council. This after a number of service delivery protest marches to the offices of Premier Sisi Ntombela and other departments, such as Health and Destea, among others.

Meanwhile, Mojanaga said the MSDF is committed to working, assisting and supporting the programme that will rescue the metro from the calamity that it is faced with.
