Concerned Mangaung residents make another plea to Ramaphosa | News Article

The Mangaung Concerned Community (MCC) pressure group has made a fresh call to ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa to dissolve the battles within the Mangaung Metro Municipality.

MCC spokesperson Themba Zweni says the factions within the ANC have heavily contributed to ongoing poor service delivery and a lack of job opportunities within the Metro.

The MCC previously had various service delivery protests and also led a three-day total shutdown in Mangaung, which resulted in the death of 15-year-old Liam Jevano Siege.

Despite their continued concerns, Zweni says the MCC won't cause any disruptions at the ANC's 111th-anniversary celebrations.

"The MCC uncovered a plot by some in this ANC faction that was aimed at ensuring that there are protests at the January 8 celebrations. This group decided to employ people unprocedurally; where have you seen councillors employ people simply because they are members of the ANC?

"Now this is what used to happen in the past before the shutdown, and that is why we as the MCC felt that we were going to distance ourselves, and we want to make it very clear that we will continue to engage and call for the dissolution of this council," he said.

According to Zweni, Mangaung recently recruited 460 employees who are ANC members and neglected people who have been volunteering since February 2022. He requested that president Cyril Ramaphosa take a tour of Mangaung to see for himself how conditions have worsened since his last visit to the area.
