A domestic worker and her accomplices appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday following their arrest after a home invasion in Bultfontein, on charges of house robbery, theft and theft of a motor vehicle.

According to police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng, the complainant, 28-year-old Tarakagni Mihirt, was at her residence in Murray Street, Bultfontein, busy feeding her child while the domestic worker was busy with house chores.

"Suddenly, an unknown man entered the house and instructed the complainant at gunpoint to look down, and she was tied with a chain. He called two other suspects into the house."

He said they threatened to kill her if she didn't give in to their demands for cash and valuables. She spotted three suspects and also heard a woman's voice.

While Mihirt was held at gunpoint, they stole her Toyota Yaris, which is worth R60 000, along with three necklaces, a wedding band, a dress ring, an undisclosed sum of money, and five different articles of clothing for men and women.

"The suspects drove off with a vehicle and stolen items. A case of house robbery, theft and theft of a motor vehicle was registered for further investigation," he added.

The suspects, 36-year-old Dineo Sekwati, 30-year-old Fikile Sekwati, 30-year-old Mojalefa Nkati and 33-year-old Tselane Nomuka, appeared in court. The has been postponed to 19 December 2022.
