Warrant officer Thapelo Molomo has won the Idols South Africa singing competition after dedicating his time and effort to winning the hearts of South Africans.

Molomo is a psychologist at the South African Police Services' (SAPS) Employee Health and he previously told OFM News “it was important to me to have a plan prior to entering, why am I here, what am I going to achieve with this opportunity I have been given on Idols as far as my music career is concerned, so it was about the readiness for me.”

The prizes Molomo walked away with included one million rand in cash, made up of R350,000 in a Standard Bank MyMo account, R300,000 from Spotify and R350,000 from Mzansi Magic, access to a Standard Bank wealth manager, a Toyota Starlet, a fashion voucher from Truworths and his live show outfits to the value of R100,000, R85,000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha and a recording contract with Kalawa Jazmee Records.

Molomo said that he started singing at a very young age and started singing professionally in 2012. It was his parents who noticed his talent.

Speaking to Alucius Mocumi on VIP Access on OFM, Molomo said that when waiting for his name to be called, his mind was thinking for a minute what is going to happen, but he was ready for anything.

He added that now that he has won the prize money he will manage the money that he won well.

He plans on balancing his job and his music at the same time. “The SAPS has been very supportive and supportive of my career,” he said.

Furthermore, Molomo joined the SAPS in April 2021 and part of his duties include offering trauma debriefing, counselling and other employee health and wellness-related issues, he made it clear to avoid confusion that he is not an officer fighting crime out in the fields.
