New security for Matjhabeng municipality─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 13:04 Tue, 06 Sep 2022
A total of 160 newly appointed security personnel at the Matjhabeng Local Municipality in the Free State have officially been welcomed by Executive Mayor Thanduxolo Khalipha.
According to a statement issued earlier, the appointment of the security officers forms part of the municipality’s efforts in creating jobs, and protecting the municipality’s assets and resources.
Matjhabeng has recently been in the spotlight due to poor service delivery.
Last week Khalipha unveiled a new fleet that is expected to assist in dealing with the backlog of service delivery in Matjhabeng.
On 29 August 2022 Khalipha unveiled seven new vehicles which have been procured to service local residents.
The vehicles that the municipality procured include a refuse truck, four TLB's, and two more tractors for waste and water management.
Democratic Alliance (DA) Matjhabeng caucus leader, Igor Scheurkogel, lashed out at the poor state of service delivery in Matjhabeng, alleging that each ward has raw sewage running down the streets.

Meanwhile Khalipha emphasized to the newly appointed security officers the importance of payment for services, discipline, commitment, a depoliticised work environment and professionalism in servicing the community.
