A 72-year-old woman from Zastron in the Free State, who has been arrested for the possession of drugs, bank cards, and multiple identity documents (IDs), is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

The Free State Police’s spokesperson, Peter Kareli, explained that the woman, who is set to appear in the Zastron Magistrate’s Court, is charged with the contravention of the National Credit Act (34 of 2005) and the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA).

She was found with more than 70 IDs, 1 driver's licence, 3 passports, 56 different bank cards and an undisclosed amount of money. The drugs she was in possession of, include Mandrax and Crystal Meth, with a street value of about R60 000.

In a media statement, Kareli explains that the arrest of the 72-year-old comes after the Anti-Gang Unit’s members - while on crime prevention patrol duties in Matlakeng, Zastron - received information about a woman selling drugs. Upon arrival at the house, the police found and arrested the suspect.
