The Free State Department of Employment and Labour has closed down the Gateway Clinic at the National Hospital in Bloemfontein.
The Free State health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, says that the closure of the clinic comes after a prohibition notice that was issued by the labour department. He says the temporary closure of Gateway Clinic is due to an electrical fault, the ceiling and general cleanliness.
Mvambi also adds that the clinic is part of the hospital's infrastructure that is earmarked for future refurbishments.
According to Mvambi, the Gateway Clinic at the National District Hospital was in a temporary structure whilst the department was working on the completion of the permanent structure. He says that the permanent structure of the Gateway Clinic is currently 90% completed. In his statement, Mvambi requested members of the public and patients, especially mothers, pregnant women, and children who were enrolled in the clinic, to use other clinics that are not far from where they reside until further announcements on the opening of the Gateway Clinic.
