Sedibeng Water jobs secure | News Article

The job of every single employee of Central South Africa's disestablished Sedibeng Waterboard is secure.

BloemWater’s Maruping Rapudungoane assured OFM News that there will be no employee from the water board that will be retrenched as a result of the disestablishment process.

The biggest challenge they were facing as an entity was the recovery of money owed to them by municipalities. The acting chairperson of the Sedibeng waterboard, Sphetho Siyengo, says it is difficult fort them to do their jobs when municipalities don't do their part.

OFM News previously reported Sedibeng Waterboard’s staff, assets and liabilities will be transferred to Magalies and BloemWater Boards.

Members of the public and all interested parties are invited to make comments in writing on the disestablishment of the board.

The Department of water and sanitation has reiterated its commitment to ensure that there is smooth transition of the disestablishment and that water service provision to communities is not affected.

The gazette was published on Friday, 20 May 2022, and will remain open to the public for a period of 40 days.
