Alternative routes to be used during #R30 closure─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 09:31 Sat, 28 May 2022
Motorists are urged to make use of alternative routes during the closure of the notorious R30 road between Allanridge and Welkom in the Free State.
The provincial Department of Police, Roads and Transport previously announced the closure of the road as it is considered unsafe.
The departmental spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, stated that motorists travelling between Allanridge and Bothaville should make use of the S1075 secondary road and the R719 road.

Motorists travelling between Ondendalsrus and Bothaville are advised to use the S86 road.
For those travelling between Welkom and Kroonstad, the alternative route to be used is the R34. Motorists travelling to Orkney in the North West should use the R76 road via Viljoenskroon.

Mophethe, in a statement, further says motorists are urged to drive carefully and adhere to the additional safety signs that were erected along the alternative roads. Motorists should also show patience and courtesy towards fellow road users as these routes are carrying heavier than usual traffic.
OFM News previously reported that the 15 lives have been lost on the R30 since January 2022.
