Police investigate Mahikeng fire─── 09:39 Sat, 16 Apr 2022
Police in Mahikeng in the North West are investigating the cause of a fire that gutted five shops on Easter Friday at the Molopo Mini Market on Station Road.
The fire, which is alleged to have started around 6 am in the morning, was quickly extinguished before more shops could be affected.
Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, confirmed to OFM News that an inquiry was opened and police will investigate the matter.

Mahikeng Local Municipality Mayor, Tshepiso Mphehlo, has applauded emergency personnel who responded to the scene, citing that their quick reaction was needed to ensure the damage is not worse.
Mahikeng municipality spokesperson, Gaolatlhe Nkoane, said fire trucks from neighbouring towns were called to assist and came in very handy.
Nkoane says the extent of the damages will be established once the police are done with their investigation.
