Residents of the City of Matlosana and JB Marks municipalities in the North West are cautioned against scammers on social media asking people to send their personal details to verify the status of their RDP house application.
Scammers claim to be representing the Rental Housing Tribunal and Department of Local Government and Housing.
City of Matlosana spokesperson, Ntswaki Makhetha, says this is a scam and cautions residents not to share their personal information.
OFM News is in possession of their memo, which requests community members to send their details via WhatsApp before the 18th of April 2022. The memo also contains a stamp from the municipalities.
Makhetha says the stamp is fake and says the municipality condemns this type of behaviour of manipulating the vulnerable and unsuspecting people.
