Free State department closes offices due to water cuts─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 13:03 Wed, 16 Mar 2022
The Free State Department of Police, Roads and Transport (DPRT), together with its key offices, have temporarily closed down due to water cuts.
Water supply to several government buildings has been restricted by the troubled Mangaung Metro Municipality due to no payments towards their water bills.
The departmental spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, explained in a press statement that the offices will remain closed to prevent possible adverse health and wellness conditions for clients and employees.
The key offices under the DPRT that are affected, are situated at the Lengau Testing Centre, Perm Building, Medfontein Building, and Anchor House Building.
The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State, after having water restored in the building, stated on their official Facebook page they are up to date with their water bill, and that the water problem lies with the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.
