The Free State Provincial Government is set to pay the Mangaung Metro Municipality’s power utility, Centlec, R90 million monthly to try and settle its debt in arrears.
Several government departments in the province owe the power utility over R200 million. Centlec spokesperson, Lele Mamatu, confirm that there was an agreement between the power utility and provincial government in which a substantial and reasonable payment was made to Centlec already.
On Monday, OFM News reported that Centlec wanted to plunge the provincial government department into darkness for not honouring their debt which runs into millions of rands.
