The Deputy Provincial Police Commissioner in the Free State, Solly Lesia, has issued a warning to police who work with criminals.
Lesia told OFM News that there's a huge number of crimes registered against police officers and that over fifty police officers have been shown the door between 2021 and now, due to fraud.
He advised residents to always be attentive when they share information or tip-offs that may lead to perpetrators.
"Not all police will be able to assist our people. Some of the police work together with the criminals and they can't arrest them," says Lesia.
He added residents must always have the numbers of the station commanders for sharing tip-offs that may lead to the arrests of police members who commit crimes.
He, however, pointed out that every cloud has a silver lining. Not all police commit crimes and some of them are heroes to the people that they serve.
