Alleged drug dealer killed at Vereeniging taxi rank─── 16:07 Thu, 10 Feb 2022
Police in the Vaal are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of offenders who killed a suspected drug dealer.
The murder took place at the Vereeniging taxi rank, when taxi operators protested over the high crime rate in the area.
Taxi drivers reportedly assaulted suspected criminals, who are accused of robbing members of the public.
Police spokesperson Fikile Funda told OFM News that no one has been arrested yet, and taxi operators at the Vereeniging taxi rank are not prepared to share the circumstances that led to the death of the suspected drug dealer.
Investigations continue.
Meanwhile, Voortrekker Street, which was blocked by taxi operators this morning, is reportedly open to traffic again.
