A member of the Free State Emergency Medical Service's (EMS) response team was airlifted to hospital from the N8 just outside Petrusburg on Friday morning.
The official response vehicle also caught fire, causing a temporary closure of the road.
Details of the accident are still sketchy and the condition of the injured unknown.
OFM News sent detailed questions to the Free State Health Department and is awaiting a response. This is a developing story.
