More than one thousand Covid-19 jabs were successfully administered at Universitas Academic Hospital on Saturday 17 July 2021.
The Free State Department of Health spokesperson Mondli Mvambi, confirmed that a whopping 1056 people were successfully vaccinated yesterday.
He further stated that people who visited the site were well serviced under professional and time efficient atmosphere with no adverse events.
"There were eight healthcare workers who got their first dose, and 21 who got their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. In the 60 and above category, we saw 46 people getting their first dose, whilst 225 people 60 years and older got their second dose. In the younger than 50 category, there were 751 who got their first dose and five who got their second," said Mvambi.
The vaccination is still open to the public and more people who are eligible to vaccinate have been advised to register and visit the hospital vaccination site.
Meanwhile, Free State Health MEC Montseng Tsiu has praised the dedication of health workers, citing that they are always there to lend a hand and save lives.
She further urged people to use today - International Nelson Mandela Day - to encourage one another to vaccinate.
