Matjhabeng appeals to communities amidst water shortages─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:00 Wed, 07 Jul 2021
The embattled executive mayor of Matjhabeng Municipality, Nkosinjani Speelman, is appealing to residents to ensure that they have stored enough water.
This, as Sedibeng Water has confirmed water interruptions to the Matjhabeng and Nala Local Municipalities. The water board, in an urgent notice addressed to Municipal Managers, said it is working on its main water pipelines that are leaking. It confirmed repairs are underway and warns of interruptions until Monday, July 12. Meanwhile, Speelman is encouraging communities to take heed of the notice and use water sparingly.
Speelman has for the past few months made headlines with communities embarking on services delivery protests and calling for his removal.
He tells OFM News the water crisis currently experienced is beyond their control as the Sedibeng Water is busy with water works.
