NC embarks on pilot project to improve education─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:11 Sun, 13 Jun 2021

Northern Cape schools might soon go digital.
This, as the Provincial Education Department has embarked on a pilot project to hand over tablets to schools.
Education MEC, Zolile Monakali, confirms they have joined forces with MTN and handed a hundred devices to Grade 12 learners at Gariep High School in Prieska.
He says this is in alignment with their plans to roll out Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) programmes in schools to improve teaching and learning.
The province scored a matric pass rate of 66% in 2020, which was a drop from their 77% matric pass rate in 2019.
Monakali says they are hopeful the initiative will assist both educators and learners and strengthen the education system in the province.
