Mangaung Metro to oppose suspended MM's application─── LUCKY NKUYANE 14:51 Thu, 27 May 2021
The Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM) is expected to oppose the application by its suspended Municipal Manager (MM), Tankiso Mea.
Senior Counsel (SC) Stefan Grobler is set to represent the cash-strapped metro in Thursday's application.
Mea filed an urgent court application to challenge his suspension, which is scheduled for later Thursday afternoon in the Motion Court in Bloemfontein. The embattled Mea was suspended after a string of allegations of misconduct and maladministration against him.
In total, 62 council members, including ANC, DA and EFF members, on Friday voted for Mea's suspension, 29 against it, whilst the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) failed to cast its vote due to network issues. Mea is expected to implore the court to set aside and declare his suspension unlawful.
