Local entrepreneurs affected by #MangaungShutdown─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:57 Tue, 18 May 2021
Small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in large parts of Mangaung continue to be affected by the protests.
Entrepreneurs in the areas of phase 2, Bloemanda, and Rocklands bemoan how the Mangaung shutdown has severely affected their source of income. A 36-year-old Ghanaian hair-dresser, who would like to remain anonymous in fear of victimisation, tells OFM News she has closed shop. She says she fears she might be a victim of the protests and that foreign nationals might soon be targeted. She says she normally opens the salon early in the morning, around 8 am, and closes late in the evening to accommodate customers who knock off late, but she has since shut down her business, fearing the protests.
Another shop owner, popularly known as mama Pabi, says she hopes the protests will soon come to an end as she now sits at home without any source of income.
OFM News has reported that the shutdown in Mangaung has entered the second day with several roads leading to the CBD still barricaded by rocks and burning tyres.
