FS premier weighs in on looming reshuffle | News Article

Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela’s office has broken its silence on the alleged looming reshuffle of HODs and MECs.

Ntombela’s spokesperson, Sello Pietersen, in an interview with OFM News says there is no looming reshuffle of the cabinet and refutes the list of HODs making rounds on social media, indicating how they are set to be reshuffled to the different departments.

Pietersen says they have noted the list of HODs circulating on social media and can assure the public that it is “fake”. He says while Ntombela will be well within her legal rights to reshuffle MECs and HODs, she has not yet come to that conclusion. Pietersen highlights that in alignment with the vision set for the province as outlined in the State of the Province Address (SOPA), Ntombela will reshuffle the administration and political heads whenever she sees it fit, to ensure service delivery.

“We have noted the list that is circulating that has been caused by people who want to cause confusion. What we can confirm is that the Premier has not reshuffled HODs as outlined in that particular fake list. The only reshuffle that the Premier has effected is that of the HOD of Roads to go to Sports so that she can strengthen that department,” said Pietersen.

Pietersen added that other matters pertaining to this particular move are before the courts of law and cannot comment.

“The Premier has not raised a desire to reconfigure the MECs or to reshuffle them at this point, but of course anytime she sees fit after consultation with the relevant structures she could be able to reshuffle MECs in accordance with their strengths so that they could be able to deliver the mandate of the government,” he highlighted.
