Two arrested for illegal land occupation─── 15:38 Thu, 25 Feb 2021
Two people who reportedly occupied land illegally in Phahameng location, Bethlehem, in the Free State remain in custody.
They were arrested on Sunday after a community meeting organised by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Dihlabeng local municipality.
According to the party's chief whip, Mohloki Mthombeni, the arrest was illegal.
Mthombeni says the party will keep giving land to the needy, who have nowhere to go.
Municipal spokesperson, Tshediso Maitse, however, says there is no way the residents could be given the land, as it has no proper infrastructure and there is a pipeline network running underneath it.
