Lack of water supply infuriates FS residents─── 14:35 Tue, 24 Nov 2020
Residents of Brandfort, in the Masilonyana Local Municipality in the Free State, have reportedly been without water for the past seven years.
Ward 5 councillor, Phuthi Tlahadi, has said old infrastructure is the main reason why residents don’t have proper water supply.
Tlahadi says there is a water development project underway at the moment. He adds the project is intended to guarantee residents clean water.
"The project may take up to March 2021," says Tlahadi.
He further begged with residents to be patient while the process of developing a water plant is underway.
Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor in Theunissen and Brandfort, Marieta Visser, says her party has written to the province and the national assembly about this matter without being assisted.
She says they also reported the issue to the Human Rights Commission - they are waiting for a reaction.
