The management of the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State yesterday welcomed a delegation from the Central University of Technology (CUT) for talks about the establishment of a Qwaqwa-based campus of the university.
The CUT delegation was led by the deputy vice-chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Engagements, Professor Alfred Ngowi.
The meeting follows after the municipality made a formal request to the institution to consider the establishment of a campus in Maluti-A-Phofung.
CUT has its main campus in Bloemfontein, and one in Welkom in the Lejweleputswa district.
The municipal manager, Futhudi Mothamaha, says the establishment of a CUT campus in Maluti-A-Phofung will offer study opportunities in the areas of Engineering, Sciences, Technology, and Health Sciences.
Following a presentation by the different departments of CUT on the different paths, the institution's delegation expressed interest in the establishment of a campus in Maluti-A-Phofung.
