Ntombela visits displaced families─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:59 Fri, 24 Jan 2020
Free State Premier, Sisi Ntombela, has again made a turn at the Paradise Hall in Bloemfontein where approximately 30 people are accommodated after their shacks in Caleb Motshabi informal settlement were destroyed by floods earlier this month.
The group of people, that includes children, the elderly and the disabled were today provided with food and other basic necessities by Ntombela and a group of Bloemfontein businessmen who saw the need to lend a helping hand.
Addressing the displaced informal settlement dwellers and members of the media, Ntombela once again vowed to help the families and said their plight is receiving her utmost attention.
She highlighted that the Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro Municipality, Olly Mlamleli, and Cogta MEC, Thembeni Nxangisa, are particularly working on long-term measures that could be implemented to ensure that informal settlement dwellers are moved to safer, developed areas. She alluded that the MEC for Social Development, Mamiki Qabathe, will be intervening to ensure that the elderly and the physically challenged individuals, who are temporarily accommodated at Paradise, are moved to established old age homes and centres for the disabled.
