Parys duo drown in Vaal River─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 06:34 Tue, 31 Dec 2019
The body of the second Parys man reported to have drowned in the Vaal River this past weekend has been recovered.
Free State police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, confirms the duo were fishing along the Vaal River on Friday, 27 December 2019, when their canoe capsized near the Mimosa Gardens area in Parys.
Officials received word of the incident just before 18:00 pm on Friday evening. Police divers recovered the first body roughly two days after the reported incident at around 10:00 am that Sunday morning.
The body was later identified as a 35-year old man from Tumahole township in Parys. For now police indicated that he is a “Mr Booi”.
The body of the second man was recovered on Monday. As of this report the deceased is yet to be identified says Makhele.
