Suicide attempt at Bloemfontein mall prevented─── PULANE CHOANE 12:24 Tue, 19 Feb 2019
Visitors at a Bloemfontein mall in the Free State went about their business on Tuesday morning, unaware that a suicide attempt was just prevented at the mall's rooftop parking area.
OFM News rushed to the scene at Mimosa Mall after it had received a tip-off. Information gathered thus far states that the man is a control room operator at a local security company. Bystanders who were on the scene told OFM News that police officials and local medical staff were able to talk him out of trying to commit suicide.
He is currently receiving medical attention and counselling. OFM News tried to talk to his wife who was on the scene but requested that her privacy be respected.
Local authorities are yet to provide comment on the matter as they are still gathering information.
With respect to the family and people involved, Mimosa Mall's management did not want to comment on the incident. The centre's management did, however, confirm that nobody was injured. Neelofar Issa, general manager, thanked ER24 and the SAPS for their great and quick response.
