Alleged Boko Haram kingpin arrested─── 09:58 Mon, 15 May 2017
Abuja – The Nigerian Army has arrested an alleged key member of the Boko Haram and some suspected kidnappers during weekend operations.
One of the suspects has been named as Bala Ibrahim (30), who was arrested by troops of Forward Operation Base in Fika, Yobe State.
He is said to be from Bulabulin village in the region and was allegedly fleeing the military operations. The army claims he is an important member of Boko Haram.
“He is further being interrogated,” said army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Sani Kukasheka Usman.
Meanwhile, troops deployed at Forward Operation Base Yuga on blocking position, following a tip-off, ambushed and arrested four suspected kidnappers at Mundu village.
Samaila Abubakar, Yahaya Auta (25), Salisu Lawal (20) and Umar Mohammed (18) were arrested.
The suspects were found in possession of an assortment of weapons and some money. “They are also currently being further investigated,” Usman said.
