Bloemfontein - Thandora, the 27-year-old elephant that has been a resident of the Bloemfontein Zoo for more than ten years, will soon find a new home.
This after the Mangaung Metro and the NSPCA agreed that it would be in her best interest. Mangaung city manager Sibongile Mazibuko announced at the zoo this morning (Wednesday) that council is to take the final decision on her relocation.
SPCA national inspector, Wendy Wilson, says elephants normally live as part of the family unlike Thandora who lives alone in a zoo.
Mazibuko says plans are afoot to relocate the Bloemfontein Zoo to Kwaggafontein where elephants will have enough space to live as families.
