Cape Town – Zimbabwean police have reportedly retrieved two bodies of border jumpers who drowned while trying to cross the crocodile-infested Limpopo River and illegally enter into South Africa.
According to The Herald, police said the bodies were found at different points along the boundary line and one of them had both legs devoured by crocodiles.
Police said the body, which was trapped in sand, was spotted by villagers who then alerted them.
"When we arrived we managed to retrieve the remaining limbs", police were quoted as saying, adding that the river was not flooded although there were some sections where there was a lot of water.
The bodies were taken to Beitbridge district mortuary and police are yet to ascertain their identities.
Over the years, illegal immigrants have crossed over the Limpopo River into South Africa in order to escape economic hardships in Zimbabwe.
