Radio presenter's husband expected back in court─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:29 Wed, 19 May 2021
The Progressive Professional Forum (PFF) in the Free State says it believes that McKenzie Ratselane, who allegedly attacked and stabbed his wife, is trying to manoeuver around his criminal case.
The PPF's provincial ambassador, Mannehileng Letuka, says McKenzie, who is a former police officer and faces several charges after the stabbing of SABC radio presenter Dimakatso Ratselane, is trying to use his expertise to manoeuver around this case. This as McKenzie and his new legal counsel previously told the regional court in Bloemfontein that he wants to plead guilty to all other charges, except attempted murder of his wife.
Letuka says contrary to what McKenzie believes, no-one is bigger than the law, especially where there’s clear evidence. He is expected to appear in the Regional Court on Wednesday.
"For him to have run away after committing the crime, it was clear that he knew what he did is going to get him straight to jail. It is just a matter of time, he will soon be a prisoner for life," she adds. However, Letuka says by the look of things it seems like Ratselane will own up to his crimes and face the might of the law." I believe this will also make things easier for his lawyers too and not to try to defend an obvious crime committed by McKenzie," Letuka adds.
Ratselane faces charges of assault, kidnapping, the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and attempted murder. He previously said that he does not want to plead guilty to attempted murder because if he wanted to kill his wife he could have done so as he had a firearm when he stabbed her multiple times with a knife in Bloemfontein in February. McKenzie abandoned his bail application previously after he was arrested in Gauteng following a stint escape.
