Kroonstad - Numerous houses were blown away and two people injured in a heavy storm that hit Kroonstad in the Northern Free State last night. Police spokesperson Fina Mpakane says houses were also left in darkness when the storm cut the electricity supply. The full extent of the damages will be assessed today:
Meanwhile flood waters have begun receding in Mozambique, and residents have started returning to the worst-hit city, Chokwe were as many as 150 000 people were displaced. The U.N. says flood waters killed at least 38 people over the last several days. It said at least $15 million would initially be needed in relief aid.
