Breast cancer affects 1 in 27 women in South Africa. Let’s come together this #PinkTober to make a difference.

This October, OFM is once again going pink to support breast cancer awareness and those impacted by this devastating disease. We're on a mission to raise R500 000 for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) throughout the month, and we need your help to make it happen!

Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in South Africa, with millions at risk. Knowledge is power, and it's crucial for women to understand how to reduce their risk, recognize early warning signs, and take proactive steps for their health.

Every Thursday, OFM will dedicate our daytime shows to shining a spotlight on breast cancer. We'll share inspiring stories, offer support to those fighting the disease, and provide key information on prevention and resources available through CANSA. Stay tuned for updates on our fundraising efforts, and be sure to contribute by donating. Simply Telegram ‘pinkpledge’ to 084 222 9497 and follow the prompts.

Show your support by wearing pink on Thursdays and sharing your photos on social media with #OFMPinkTober. Let's flood our feeds with hope and solidarity!

Also join us for our weekly Bowling4Boobies events, in partnership with Round Table Southern Africa. All you need to do, is book a team and show up - everything is provided (no need for your own balls). These corporate bowls evenings will take place across various locations, with all proceeds benefiting local CANSA offices:

  • Vanderbijlpark: 3 October
  • Klerksdorp: 10 October
  • Bloemfontein: 17 October
  • Bethlehem: 24 October
  • Vryburg: 31 October

The fun kicks off at 17:00 and runs until 21:00. Enjoy an evening of eats, treats, and beats, along with an exclusive bucket hat and CANSA socks. Plus, there are plenty of prizes to be won! Don’t miss this opportunity to have a great time while supporting a vital cause.

Secure your team of four players with a donation of R2 000 per team, here: https://www.ofmpinktober.co.za/

The OFM team can’t wait to see you there!

In 2023, you’re contribution helped CANSA do the following:

  • Conduct 975 cancer screenings (October 2023 to August 2024)
  • Facilitate access to treatment and medication to 10 patients in the public sector.
  • Launch a weekly Information and Support Desk at Robert Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley (April 2024) where volunteers have interacted with 241 individual patients and referred 26 for further follow up.
  • There is also an Info and Support desk at National Hospital in Bloemfontein, which has reached 203 patients.
  • The Tele Counselling service (for emotional support) and Clinical Counselling service had 88 clients from the target areas, who made use of the service.
  • Six National WhatsApp support groups are available to patients in all these areas with 23 active members.
  • Care Homes in Bloemfontein and Pretoria both accommodate patients from North West, Northern Cape and Free State and accommodated 133 patients.
  • Conduct 16 talks in the community, which reached a total of 945 people.
