28 March 2020 (Earth Hour – 20:30 – 21:30)
OFM Special Broadcast 19:00 – 22:00
Nature is one of our greatest allies against climate change and is vital for our survival, but it is under threat.
We’re the first generation to know we are destroying our planet. And we could be the last that can do anything about it.
Nature underpins everything around us – from the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe, to our very livelihoods and quality of life. It is vital for all our futures, and is one of our strongest allies against the climate crisis – and yet, the rate of global loss of nature in the last 50 years is unprecedented in human history.
This #EarthHour, OFM wants to encourage you to tune in to our special broadcast from 19:00 while joining millions around the world for the biggest environmental movement of 2020 and switching off at 20:30 local time, 28 March 2020.
During this special ‘off grid hour’, tune in to OFM via your battery operated or wind up radio, smart phone, car radio or any low electricity consumption device and enjoy a special programme with chances to win.
No matter where you are in the world, you can make an impact this Earth Hour.
Let’s come together this Earth Hour 2020 to #Connect2Earth and raise our voice for a healthy natural world we can all rely on.
Raise your voice for nature here.
Started by WWF and partners as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now one of the world's largest grassroots movements for the environment, engaging millions of people in more than 180 countries and territories. It has become a catalyst for positive environmental impact, driving major legislative changes by harnessing the power of the people.
“Every year, we countdown together across the globe to celebrate Earth Hour and take one iconic action: switch off the lights. But it is so much more than that. It is a symbol of unity. It is a symbol of hope. It is a symbol of power in collective action for nature.” – World Wildlife Fund.
