Something big is taking place in Sasolburg, the weekend of 8 & 9 June 2019… The Golden Triangle Chamber Of Commerce (GTCOC) will attempt not one, but two, Guinness World Records by:
1.) Displaying the ‘Biggest hand-knitted blanket in the world’ (Ref: 180802150456LHKB) and,
2.) Donating the most blankets to charity in 24 Hours (Ref: 180821155549MBDT)!
On the 8th of June, they will display the biggest hand-knitted blanket in the world, measuring a massive 19 602 m2.
GTCOC plans to make use of more than a 1 000 people for the knitting and the day will be filled with fun, live entertainment, a mountain bike race, 4x4 tracks, and food and beverage stalls.
On the 9th of June 2019, GTCOC plans to break up this 19 000m2 plus blanket into 9 075 blankets of 1,2m x 1,8 m and distribute and donate them to 100s of charities in the Vaal Triangle.
All this will take place at the DP de Villiers Stadium in Sasolburg.
The Absolute 80s Radio with Tony Blewitt also broadcasts live from the event on the Sunday, 09:00 - 13:00.
GTCOC has also partnered with Rotary SA, Lusa Community Chest and OFM in this initiative to involve the greater part of the Vaal Triangle public, as well as help 1000s of people in need.
