The original Soweto giants, Moroka Swallows, will be playing some of their home games in Bloemfontein during the 2023/24 Premier Soccer League season.

The Dube Birds first home game of the season is scheduled to be played on 8 August against Cape Town City at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.

In round four, Swallows will play against the newly promoted Cape Town Spurs in the City of Roses as well.

As matters stand, the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as Royal AM and Stellenbosch FC are scheduled to make a turn in Bloemfontein, however, these fixtures are only scheduled for next year.

Apart from five games to be played in Bloemfontein, Swallows, will continue to play the rest of their home games at the iconic Dobsonville Stadium.

Recently the former Bloemfontein Celtic coach, Steve Komphela, was appointed as the new Swallows tactician.

The Kroonstad-born Komphela is a former Free State Stars and Bafana Banfana captain, and he when coached Phunya Sele Sele he was adored by the Siwelele faithful.

The former Celtic captain, Wandisile Letlabika, is still at Swallows and he is also sure to be a crowd favourite.

The club recently also reverted back to their original name of Moroka Swallows after playing as Swallows FC since their returned to the PSL after playing in the lower leagues for several seasons.
