Sundowns to play Pirates in the Carling Cup Final─── KAYLA BARKER 15:51 Sat, 12 Nov 2022
In a 3-0 win over Amazulu earlier today, Mamelodi Sundowns secured their spot in the Carling Cup Finals. Their victory was followed by the Orlando Pirates vs. Kaizer Chiefs semi-final in which Pirates secured the position.
In what was a comfortable win for Sundowns, they secured their finals spot at the FNB Stadium with 3 goals above the Amazulu’s zero. Cassius Mailula, Surprise Ralani and Haashim Domingo contributed to the win by each scoring one for the Brazilian side.
For their opponents, a goalless 90 minutes did not stop Pirates from securing their position in the final. The game went to penalty shootouts and in a 5-4 win the deal was done in what was Pirates first having won the shootouts against Kaizer Chiefs.
Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu are to play for positions 3 and 4 in the tournament after their losses in their respective semi-finals.
The Carling Cup Final is set to take place at 5pm today, the 12th of November.
